Our Story

Every great idea begins with a simple question:

“What if every girl knew she belonged in STEM?”

Styled by STEM was born from that question—and from a vision to create opportunities that many girls have never been given.

Growing up, our founder, Gershyia Inman, developed a deep love for science, nature, animals, and discovering how the world works. As she pursued her education and career in environmental science and youth development, she recognized a common pattern: many girls, especially those from underserved and underrepresented communities, possessed incredible curiosity and potential but lacked access to engaging STEM experiences, positive role models, and the encouragement to imagine themselves as future scientists, engineers, physicians, veterinarians, programmers, environmental leaders, and innovators.

While working in classrooms, after-school programs, and educational organizations, Gershyia met students who were eager to learn but simply needed someone to believe in them. She saw firsthand how a single hands-on activity, a supportive mentor, or an encouraging conversation could transform a student’s confidence and inspire a lifelong passion for learning.

Those experiences became the foundation of Styled by STEM.

Founded with the belief that every girl deserves the opportunity to explore, create, lead, and succeed, Styled by STEM was established to provide more than STEM education. It was created to build a community where girls feel seen, supported, challenged, and empowered to pursue their dreams without limits.

Today, Styled by STEM offers engaging programs for girls from VPK through 12th grade, combining science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with leadership development, mentorship, environmental stewardship, career exploration, community service, and hands-on learning. Through after-school programming, STEM Saturdays, summer camps, competition teams, Girl Scouts, field experiences, tutoring, and community partnerships, students gain the knowledge, confidence, and life skills needed to thrive in school and beyond.

Our commitment extends far beyond academics. We believe that developing the next generation of women in STEM also means nurturing character, resilience, creativity, compassion, and leadership. We celebrate curiosity, encourage innovation, and create safe spaces where girls are empowered to ask questions, take risks, solve problems, and discover who they are capable of becoming.

Looking ahead, our vision is to grow from serving families on Florida’s Treasure Coast to creating opportunities for girls throughout Florida and, ultimately, across the nation. We aspire to become a trusted leader in STEM education, opening doors to college, careers, and lifelong success for thousands of young women.
