Discover Environmental & Marine Science at Styled by STEM

Nature is one of the world’s greatest classrooms.

The Environmental & Marine Science Program at Styled by STEM encourages girls to explore the natural world through hands-on investigations, outdoor learning, scientific research, and conservation experiences. Students discover how Earth’s ecosystems are connected while learning about wildlife, marine life, environmental stewardship, and sustainable solutions to real-world challenges.

Inspired by Florida’s unique coastal ecosystems and rich biodiversity, this program helps students develop a lifelong appreciation for science, conservation, and protecting our planet.

Whether collecting water samples from a local lagoon, observing sea turtles, identifying native plants, or participating in habitat restoration projects, students become active scientists while making a positive impact on their communities.

Science in the Field

The best way to learn about the environment is by experiencing it firsthand. Our program moves beyond the classroom through immersive field experiences.

Environmental Science Experiences

  • Nature hikes and ecological observations
  • Wetland and watershed explorations
  • Water quality and soil investigations
  • Native plant identification
  • Wildlife observation and tracking
  • Pollinator and butterfly garden projects
  • Tree planting and habitat restoration
  • Recycling and sustainability initiatives
  • Community cleanups
  • Climate, weather, and renewable-energy investigations

Marine Science Experiences

  • Lagoon, estuary, and ocean ecosystem studies
  • Beach and shoreline exploration
  • Marine biodiversity surveys
  • Seagrass and mangrove ecology
  • Water sampling and marine data collection
  • Marine mammal and sea turtle education
  • Fisheries and aquaculture exploration
  • Coastal conservation projects
  • Marine debris and plastic-pollution studies
  • Coral reef education and ocean safety

Field Studies & Outdoor Learning

Students strengthen scientific observation and critical-thinking skills through:

Scientific Field JournalsSpecies IdentificationNature PhotographyBird WatchingPollinator StudiesGPS MappingEnvironmental Data CollectionHabitat ComparisonsBiodiversity SurveysCitizen Science

These experiences encourage students to think like scientists by asking questions, collecting evidence, and drawing conclusions from their observations.

Community Conservation Projects

Students become environmental leaders through service-learning opportunities such as:

  • Beach cleanups and coastal initiatives
  • Park restoration and tree planting
  • Community gardening and pollinator habitats
  • Recycling drives
  • Water-conservation campaigns
  • Earth Day celebrations
  • Environmental awareness projects

Through service, students learn that protecting the environment begins with everyday actions.

Community Partners & Field Experiences

Styled by STEM works with environmental organizations, aquariums, nature centers, universities, parks, and conservation agencies to provide authentic learning experiences.
