No STEM background is required for many volunteer opportunities. Training is provided as needed.
Eligibility Requirements
To become a Styled by STEM volunteer, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old for most volunteer positions, or meet the minimum age requirement for youth volunteer opportunities.
- Complete a Volunteer Application.
- Successfully pass any required background screening for roles involving direct interaction with minors.
- Attend volunteer orientation and required training.
- Agree to follow Styled by STEM policies, safety procedures, and Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and a commitment to creating a positive learning environment.
Some positions may require additional qualifications or certifications based on the role.

- Serve as a positive role model for students.
- Arrive on time and communicate any schedule changes.
- Treat every student, family, and fellow volunteer with kindness and respect.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Follow all safety guidelines and organizational policies.
- Support an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and leadership.
- Represent Styled by STEM with integrity both on and off-site.
